Fundraising for Women’s Aid

For the month of February, we have decided to kick off our Charity Fundraising events for the year by raising money for Women’s Aid.

Everybody has an important woman in their life, and that is why it is so crucial to show support for this charity. It is a national frontline organisation supporting not only women, but also families who are affected by domestic violence.

Women’s Aid run a 24hr National Freephone Helpline 1800 341 900, and the National Instant Message Support Service. Both services are available 7 days a week. It is staffed by trained support workers who provide a listening ear, practical and emotional support and information on options. They also provide referrals to local independent refuges and other support services nationwide.

Men can also be silent victims when it comes to domestic abuse and while Women’s Aid initially was set up to support women, they also assist men who contact them. They can signpost to partner organisations offering dedicated services to male victims and survivors of domestic abuse.

Walk 80km in February

Women’s Aid have launched the Walk 80km in February fundraiser, which we are taking part in. This will see all our employees undertake the challenge of Walking 80km over 28 days.

It’s a great opportunity to get out into the fresh air after the winter months, and it also generates some great ‘healthy’ competition amongst all our employees.

Coffee Mornings

We are also hosting a slew of coffee mornings to try and help raise awareness about all of the great work that Women’s Aid do for women and families in crisis.

These mornings will be an opportunity to shine a light on Women’s Aid, all that they do, and hopefully raise as much money as we can. On our final coffee morning we will have a self-defence professional come and speak to us regarding personal safety.
